i love it, except it somehow still has a slight prep boy vibe to me that's really off putting. Especially with the nicknames Nate and Nathan. wish there were more associations i had with it.

I really like it. I wouldn't quite put it in my top 10, but it gets close. I like Nathan, but it's definitely plainer. Nate is just plain awful - the word 'gnat' always comes to mind.

I like it a lot. Gorgeous.

There is an extraordinary Afrikaans stage and TV personality here in South Africa whose name is Nataniël, pronounced
nah TAH nee ul. I'm willing to make an exception for him, though I still wouldn't use the name. But it does sound better in Afrikaans, to my ears anyway.

That's interesting as it's pretty much the epitome of a middle ground name for me. I wouldn't have any objections if a friend used it for their son but I don't find it inspiring enough to use myself.

This was the name I really wanted to use for one of my characters. However, since I already had another character named Daniel, which was set in stone, I had to make a compromise and use Nathan "Nate" instead, which I don't mind. Just prefer less.
Who knows, maybe I'll decide to use it IRL some day.

Well, I guess I'm pretty middle-ground on this name. It's a good strong name but I do prefer Nathan.

I like it. It's one of those names that have always been in use in the USA, but, even at its peak, it never reached the top 50 in popularity. I tend to like names ending with L and find the sound pleasant.

For nicknames, Nate is okay, but I dislike Nathan.

I don't like it and think of an annoying kid.
