Re: Amanda

Good enough meaning. I'm not inspired by three As in a row, and I find Mandy ridiculous and, unfortunately, unavoidable. It could work well as a mn.

Reassuring! Thanks, guys,
I grew up with lots of Amandas, and only two went by Mandy.
I had a friend named Amanda who was never ever called Mandy by her friends or her boyfriend. I didn't know, until she took me to meet her aunt, that as a child, she had been called Mandy. I found out because the aunt addressed her as Mandy. It was a little jarring to hear that because she just wasn't Mandy to me or to anyone I knew.
She had decided as an adult that she wanted to be called Amanda and not Mandy. As usual, the family members who'd known her since birth didn't honor her wish, but she had no trouble establishing herself as Amanda with everyone else.
So I don't think Mandy is unavoidable.
