Amanda, Amber, Amy
If you had to choose one, which would it be, and why?
Hmm. Your ideas are intriguing to me and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter.

Amber
I know it's 80's-sounding, but the only one I really know is a bit younger than me (90's) and I think it has good imagery and is down-to-earth but could also fit into a more fantastical gemstone theme. I also like the emphasis on the "Am" syllable for some reason.
Amanda would be my second choice, and maybe what I'd choose if I was forced to name an actual baby one of these things, but it doesn't have much imagery for me and seems basic.
Amy sounds too preppy and insubstantial.

I like both Amanda and Amber. I like Amber more. But today I'm inclined to say Amanda, because all of a sudden the nickname Mandy is very appealing to me. Also, although both were popular, I think Amber has more of a bimbo cheerleader vibe than does Amanda. Amanda is an older name than Amber and seems more serious. So Amanda.
Probably Amy, because it's dated enough to the point where I think it's ready for a comeback.
Amanda would be my second choice. It's fine, but boring.
I don't like Amber at all; it gives me stripper vibes.

Amy
Amy is cute and has a cheerful effervescence about it that I find appealing. I really would consider using Amy particularly since their is no one in my circle of acquaintance with this name.
Amber would be my second pick, but I'm not really a big fan of jewel names. It also brings to mind an yellowy orange color that isn't my favorite.
Amanda feels the most like a mom name for babies that are being born now. I've known a lot of Amanda's around my age or slightly older, so it falls in the category of a generic generational name like Brittany, Madison, and Jennifer.
While Amber reached its peak in 86 and Amanda peaked in 87, Amy reached the height of its popularity in 1975, making it more of a fun future Grandma name rather than a soccer mom.

I like Amy. I know it's supposed to be dated but it doesn't feel like that to me.
It would have to be Amanda. Amber is too bodice-ripper and I don't enjoy jewel names anyway; and Amy was so ubiquitous here about 35 to 15 years ago that if you shouted it, every second head would turn. I exaggerate, but only slightly, and it was never a name I enjoyed, popular or not.
Amanda is good. Mandy isn't. IRL it wouldn't be worth taking the risk. In a Noel Coward play, a silly character is trying to ingratiate herself with the central character, a very elegant Amanda, and says "I shall call you Mandy!". Amanda murmurs acidly "Yes, I suppose you will", a sublime put-down wasted on the other woman!

I think Amber, it feels the least overused.
Amy, it's a classic, easy to spell, pronounce, great meaning
Well, it wouldn't be Amy; it's so dull and bland.
I love both Amanda and Amber. I think, if I was forced to choose one, I'd pick Amber, it just has a softness and warmth that Amanda doesn't quite have.

Amber. I love it like most gemstone names.
Hi !!!
I would choose Amy.
Actually I'm not free about these choices.
Amanda is my sister's name and Amy is her nickname.
We both dislike the full name Amanda because it is clumsy.
We both like Amy because it is lively, fresh, cute with an electric sound but also sweet.
About Amber .. I simply prefer other forms like Ambra, Elektra, Ámbar.

Amy
Because
I just like Amy a lot and I like the others less. I don't think Amber and Amanda are bad, they're just nms.
Amber and Amanda are more dated in my impression, Amy seems more timeless.
Amber reminds me of Kimberly which I dislike, and the mber sound is just ugly and clunky to me.
Amanda sounds stern to me - I hear the "mand" in it and it reminds me of "demand" which is distracting to me.
Amy sounds smart and confident and warm to me.
