I don’t like it on its own at all. As a nickname it’s okay, but a bit overused since it can be the nn for a lot of great names. Ella has become especially popular in my area as people are starting to understand the popularity of Emma, but are incapable of really thinking outside the box.For a longer name I like
Elizabeth (though I prefer most of its other nicknames, like Lisbet, Betty or Beth)
Elspeth
Elinor, Eleanor or Eleanora (though I prefer Nora)
Élodie
Eloise
Estelle
FiorellaLily is a lovely name (it’s my daughter’s mn) but it has too many repeated sounds with Ellie. It’s a tongue twister, plus if you call either name across the house and nobody’d know who you were calling.

I love Ellie in general, and don't mind it being a stand-alone name, though I prefer it as a nickname for something longer. I like the idea of Elin nn Ellie, as Elin is one of my favourite names. I love Ellie as a nickname of ELeanor or Helen, Ellen or Elizabeth nn Ellie are nice too. I also like when it's a bit more creative and Ellie is a nickname of a less obvious name, like one ending in -ella or containing the sounds E and L. Like Isabella, Gabriella, Cornelia, Evangeline.
I like Ellie and Lily as a sibset, really nice, though again, personally I would use some longer instead of Ellie. ELeanor and Lily are perfect. I would also think of ELoise and Lily, Elena and Lily, ELodie and Lily, Elowen and Lily...

My sister's name is Elin and she is sometimes called Ellie, so I'm kind of partial to that. I like Eleanor too, but I like Lily mostly as a nickname for Elizabeth, and Eleanor and Elizabeth would be too much. So would Elin and Elizabeth though. I wouldn't use Lily and Ellie together for those reasons, but I would not be at all surprised to see it in a sib-set today.

I don't like it as a full name, but I do love it as a nickname forElizabeth
Eliana
Eleanor
EloiseI think Lily and Ellie (or someone who would be called Ellie) are too close for sisters (except *maybe* if you wanted to give twins matchy names, but then it'd be done on purpose, and even then, I'd prefer Lillian and Eleanor / Eloise or Liliana and Eleonora)
