Honestly? I don't like either.
I dislike their sounds and I heavily dislike both of their nickname potential.
I grew up with a lot of Daniels - one of them is marrying my sister - but I've never been super fond of the people attached to the names either. Not enough for them to do Daniel any favours.
I knew Nathan who was awful and it ruined the name and all its variants.
Now however my cousin and his girlfriend are naming their baby due in August, Nathaniel, and the idea of having a Nathaniel (they'll call him "Nate") in the family is rising the name in my esteems.

I prefer Nathaniel because it's warmer, while Daniel is dark. But I do like both a lot.
I like both equally, they're both great names, classic and handsome.
Quite like both but Daniel wins.
Nathaniel, all the way. I've never liked the nicknames "Dan" or "Danny" (this affects my dislike of Danielle, as well).
Both are nice, but I like Daniel just a bit better. I hate the nn Nate.
I like both, but prefer the latter.
Definitely Nathaniel. It's more interesting and has better nicknames.
