Skylar
Wdyt of Skylar?
Replies
I prefer Skye, which is my daughter's name.
It's always been one of those names that I've denounced for its trendiness. However, I've started to have a bit of a soft spot for this spelling as a boys' name. It doesn't really go with other names I like so I'd probably never use it.
Perpetual toddler name.
Now I know I am a little bias lol but I think it is a good, solid name. The only thing is do to the fact that it is getting so popular I was always referred to as Skylar S in school due to there being another Skylar in my grade (She spelled her name with an -er though I believe). However, on the other hand, there is the Sky/Skye opportunity which I have taken advantage of in my teen years so far.
I like Skylar (nn Sky) as a feminine name, but that seems to be an unpopular opinion on BtN. My main association is Minnie Driver's character Skylar from Good Will Hunting.
I prefer it on a boy.
Other posters have said it's a modern spelling of Schuyler, which I tend to see being pronounced as "shoe-ler". Haha.

I honestly go back and forth on it. Sometimes I feel very neutral towards it, other times it sounds annoying and whimpy. In any case, I much prefer the spelling of 'Skyler'
Skylar has to be my least favorite variant of the name, right after 'Schuyler' which to me, just looks unpleasant despite being the original version. Skylar makes me want to say it as 'sky-lar' instead of 'sky-ler'
The name sounds significantly better on a boy, IMO. On a girl, it sounds ridiculous regardless of which choosen spelling, including 'Skylar'

It sounds too modern and trendy for a girl. I do like it for a boy though, spelt Schuyler.

It’s one of my favorite “trendy “ names.
I like it for a boy, though I prefer the spelling Schuyler. Aboslutley hate it for girls.
