Walter, Eugene, and Clarence
If you met a sibset with these names, ages 5-8, what would you think?
Hmm. Your ideas are intriguing to me and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter.

If they were in the USA, I would think they had highly educated avant-grade parents.
They sound very old fashioned, probably. But also classic. Definitely 40s to me.
Either that they ‘re named after ancestors or these are names that are transitioning from “dated” to “retro “.
I'd be delighted! Clarence is my favorite.
Am I the only one who likes Eugene, best?
I've always loved that name.

Probably!
Well, I like Walter best. I'm afraid that Eugene and Clarence are so fuddy-duddy that I couldn't be charmed by this sibset.
Eugene makes me think of the time that I was visiting my sister and found out that my then twelve-year-old nephew had a male friend named Gene. Except that in my mind's eye all I could picture was Jean or Jeanne and I was like "Whaaa?" Finally it was explained to me that it was Gene. I don't know why it didn't occur to me since I'd heard of men named Gene. Actually, I guess it was because it was not a popular name for that age group.

I'd think that little Walter got lucky, but not very lucky. And I'd imagine that all three names were honouring.
I dislike the sound of Eugene and its closeness to eugenics, and just about everything about Clarence, though I love Clare for a girl. Walter is fine, and I'd rather live with a Walter or a Wally (!) than a Eugene or a Clarence.

I kind of like Clarence, but not enough to use it.
I'd think they were probably named after their grandfathers and maybe a great uncle.

actually ...
There's a woman who lives near my mother, and she has a bunch of dogs. I forget how many, but the ones I remember are named Donald, Randall, and Eugene. She has a very loud, carrying voice with a New York accent and when she yells at the dogs or calls them while they're talking a walk, it sounds like she might be yelling at three old men. If I didn't know her husband was dead and that his name was Bernie, I'd think one of those was him.
