Fiance
I'm watching Judge Judy. One side is a female named Fiance. It is pronounced exactly like the word - which is the nane for the male partner in an engaged couple.WDYT?

What a terrible name, imagine if she got engaged - her spouse to be would introduce her as "my fiancée, Fiance".

Sounds like a awful name, maybe the parents didn't know?

I hope that she gets engaged and then has to meet a lot of people her intended husband knows but she doesn't, so that she can hear him say, "This is my fiancee, Fiance" many, many times.

It's pretty awful, imo, but at least it's heaps better than another spelling I came into contact with several years ago. Prepare yourself: Pheonsay!

You're right. That is worse. Much worse.

Hi !!!!It reminds me the French word confiance meaning "trust, confidence".However as it refers also to and engaged person I agree with the idea that it is too much.

I can’t even fathom how someone could think that was a good idea.

I can't imagine chosing to give my child a name that, from the time they are a baby, declares they are promised in marriage. Also sure to be weird should she ever like, get married, and yet have her name constantly imply that she has yet to reach that state.

It's the same pronunciation as the female engaged person too. Just an extra e.
It's a stupid name. It's not even an obscure word, so her parents can't even claim they only liked the sound and didn't know it was a word.

That it's terrible. Even if it was Fiancee it would still be bad.If I were in her shoes I'd be changing it to something like Fianna.
