Selena

Well obviously as a Mexican-American I instantly think of the pop icon Selena (the original, not Selena Gomez). We're actually approaching the 24th anniversary of her death so she has been on my mind lately. :(
To me it is a beautiful and iconic name and when I hear it I picture a red rose. Selina seems like a cheaper version but Celina I do like, it looks a bit like Celia and is a softer sound in my opinion. Serena is more youthful and energetic to me and it brings to mind Serena Williams and Serena van der Woodsen from Gossip Girl.

Hi Perrine !!!
I much prefer Selene to Selena.
Selene makes me think of the Moon and the goddess while Selena is just linked with Selena Gomez. Plus Selena seems Serena read with an L.
Between Selena and Celina I prefer Celina but I dislike it. Céline is much better.
Between Selina and Celina I prefer Celina despite its sound is weak and cutesy while Selina could be a good Italian form for Céline. Infact Celina that seems more similar would be pronounced che-LEE-na in Italian so actually is Selina the better translation for Céline.
I love Serena: it is in my list of names to use in real life!! Beautiful, immediate, bright, positive and quite ethereal!
So I post the forms from the best to the worst:
1 Serena 10/10
2 Selene 10/10
3 Céline 9/10
4 Selina 8/10
5 Celina 7/10
6 Selena 4/10

I like Selena, but not Selina or Celina. Selena is the only one that gives me moon imagery and the -ina ones look too frilly/poppy to me, especially Celina.
I like Serena too. I think it's not as good as Selena but it's better than Celina. (I've also met a Serina but I prefer Serena since serene is a good namy word and serine is just an amino acid...)
