Re: WDYT of Laura?
in reply to a message by Emma Katherine
I know someone who named her daughter Laura Olivia but will be calling her Olivia. (She loves TV. Fringe, Law & Order: SVU, Scandal....) I think it's a waste of Laura!
I like the associations of all of them with the laurel tree and victory. I also associate Laura with the Little House series of my childhood, and Hugh Laurie played an important role in my teenage years. (Dude is just super talented. House, A Bit of Fry & Laurie, his music albums, his cameos in random films, etc.)
So I could see myself using either Laura or Lauren nn Laurie. However, I wouldn't personally use Laurel because I foresee people not understanding it when spoken. And if it's used as a first name, she will be saying it quite a lot in her life!
My usage of Laura vs Lauren would probably depend on the combo used with it. Like if a vowel/consonant follows it.
Laura Danielle
Laura Simone
Laura Margot
Laura Marie
Lauren Emilia
Lauren Elisabeth
Lauren Isabella
Emily Lauren
