Jade is a bit of a guilty pleasure. I like the stone and sound of the name, but it has some negative connotations that would keep me from ever using it. Jade was first used in Middle English to mean “a broken-down horse." In the the 19th century it was used to refer to a disreputable woman, and now days it could be associated with jaded. In general, a lot of jewel names can come across as tawdry.
