Sam / Samuel is very laidback and pragmatic sounding to me, kind of like Joe / Joseph but not quite as uber popular historically.

I feel neutral towards it. It's decent and classic but not one I would ever charish. I personally like 'Sam' alot better.

Me too. But we also want a full name. He would be called Sam.

It's fine, a classic. I especially like it pronounced in English (I'm Swedish). I mainly like it because it gives Sam as a nickname option though.
