Oh wow I made a post about the very same name.
I feel neutral towards it. I certainly accept it more than I did as a child. And wven though I still heavily associate it to the shrek franchise, I think it's a decent enough name.
I'm personally fond of 'Fionne' Similiar in sound to Fiona but with a different ending.

It's a name I want to like more, but I just... don't . I think it's because it sounds super bratty, to me. Like the name of a girl who will scream until she gets what she wants.
It doesn't make me think of "Shrek". "Shrek" came along when I was an adult, so the famous connection I make first is Fiona Apple. :P

I like Fiona quite alot. I might consider using it on some creation (either a character or a kid) in the future.
