Apollonia
What do you think of Apollonia? What do you think of Apple as a nickname for it?

I love it. Love Apple as a nickname.

I really like Apollonia, though I did recently remove it from my PNL. I think the "lonia" sound sequence is what I ultimately objected to. Apple is a charming nickname.

I'm a fan. Apple is too over-the-top for me, but I've always thought Polly would be a cute NN for it.

I don't mind it, but I do prefer Apolline, which is very popular in French-speaking areas right now! Along with Pauline and most Paul- names. Apple sounds like such a pet name to me. I don't think I could use it for a child, but for a cat or dog, it'd be ok. Apollonia does sound fancy and and otherworldly.

Love Apollonia, it sounds quite regal. I don't like Apple, it cheapens the name. I prefer a nickname that keeps the regalness of the name somewhat intact, like Appia, Pollia and Plonia.

Wasn't there a poster who used the name? She had Colette, Gabriel, Gideon, Apollonia, and Rafe Augustus. Incredibly stuck up and annoying - I now wonder if she wasn't a troll. It's nms and Apple isn't either.

Hi !!!Apollonia is very rare nowadays. There are just 4,000 of them living in Italy and less than five born every year.Apollonia has a weird but very positive and aristocratic vibe. I can see it on a Duchess or maybe on a Good Witch (like in Oz).

Apollonia is good, but Apple is silly. I don't think any nicknames for Apollonia are very good, so I'd only use it as a middle name. (Appy/Api sounds like the shortened form of appaloosa, Polly is ok but has a completely different feel, Loni and Nia are stretching it a bit)

Very, very Prince-y. I think it's kind of cool. I don't like the NN Apple...I'd be super boring, and go with Polly.

whatever happened to her anyway? Her name sounds like lunchmeat to me. Appolonia and provolone on a ciabatta roll with garlic aioli and muffelatta sauce.

She recorded for a while, then she started a production company. Recently, she released a Prince tribute cover of "When Doves Cry". She's still around, doing her thing. She looks pretty good, too.

I guess she's better off than Vanity now, who, I'm told, got religious and kind of went off the rails.

Vanity died the same year Prince did.

really?I had no idea!

Yeah, she'd been sick for a long time. She abandoned Hollywood because she said Jesus instructed her to. IDK.

I recently met one! She went by Pola. I like it! Apple is cute!

I don’t hate it, but it’s a bit out there for me to use IRL. It does sound a bit like a horse breed.I’m not sure I would use Apple, even as a nickname. It was the butt of “stupid celebrity baby name” jokes for years. It was held up as an example of what happens when you have too much desire to be unique and not enough intelligence or empathy to realize you’re making your kid’s life difficult. It’s hardly the worst celeb baby name out there, but it was the poster child.

my mothers name is Apollonia and was bullied with the NN Apple and Ape so i wouldn't recommend that variant just to be on the safe side.
Otherwise i think it's such a pretty name
