I like it and think it’s pretty decent.

I think it’s a cool name. I’ve always liked it. But it seems more masculine than feminine.

As for Jay or Kay, Emmett seems to me a way to write the letter M (em, eme, emme).
I came across it for the first time in Twilight saga so a person with this name in tall and muscular in my mind.
To me Emmett is perfect for a woodcutter, a ranger, a cowboy or even a soldier.
I also know that Emet (אמת) is 'truth' in Hebrew, the famous word to wake Golem.
All these links make it more stereotyped and only fictional.
