Magnolia
WDYT of the name Magnolia for a girl?
Replies
I like it, but I view it more as a GP.
It’s pretty, but to me it’s one of those word names that sounds more wordy than namey.

It's a nickname my Nana uses for me sometimes so that's my first impression. It's cute, sort of vintage and easy to find a nickname for. I feel like this would belong to a Southern girl.
Hi !!!
It is gorgeous!
I pronounce it with 'gn' as the Spanish 'ñ' but sometimes, especially if It would be a name, I use the softer ma-NYO-lya. It is a bit incorrect in Italian but It is not a real mistake if Magnolia is written correctly so I find the 'nyo' more melodious.
I like It a lot for a girl. Weird but fresh and lively. I love nature-theme names!
How is it there in Brazil?

I don't like anything about it, except the beautiful flower. It's a combination of sounds and syllables I find unattractive -'gn' in particular and for a nature name I find it both over-the-top and contrived sounding at the same time. It's also the name of a hideous paint colour...ubiquitous in rented flats!. So it wouldn't be my choice ;)
