I love Viola as Vee-OH-luh, but of the two you mentioned, I would instinctively say Vy-OH-luh. As much as I love Viola, I only like it the way I say it, and that seems to be the least popular choice, so I can see it maybe causing some confusion. In general, I think it’s a gorgeous name, strong and energetic. I’m not at all surprised it’s moved into the England/Wales top 1000.
