Re: Real Life Nickname Stretch
True. But I just feel for the kid having to constantly correct the spelling.

I think at least having to always say "Elizabeth with an A" is a lot less of an effort than a lot of kids have to go through, spelling the whole thing out every time.

For my own - I say the same thing - Barbra - spelled as the famous singer / celebrity Barbra Streisand spells it. I still (vaguely) long to add Elizabeth to my name since the occasion that it was erroneously added on legal documents in lieu of my first name. I didn't think much of it at the time - but the name bears so much heritage, and with so many independent nicknames - there is "so much that can be done with the name".

Yeah ditto that! Elizabeth with an A isn't that bad. In my head it sounds slightly different.I have 3 Caitlin's in one of my classes and 3 Ashley's and all of them are spelt differently.. so much more complicated.

Alizabeth still looks kinda dumb to me, though. Also there are zillions of Al/Ali names for girls if they were so set on that nickname.

Exactly my point.
