I've never known a Rory who was anything else! I knew a Ruarhi once, I think - his parents had done something to simplify the spelling but ended up introducing more problems than they solved. And he was one of the most substantial of men. I like it and would like to see more of it.
ETA I don't find a -y ending particularly nicknamey or particularly babyish or feminine or anything else. After all, there's always Antony, Gregory, Jeremy and Timothy.
