Cataleya and Cattleya
What do you think of Cataleya? It is becoming more and more popular in several countries thanks to a character in the movie Columbiana. The original that it is based on is Cattleya, the name of an orchid.
What do you think of Cataleya? Could it become more popular? Top 100?
Do you like Cattleya better? I feel that it has more substance.

Not a fan of it. It just *sounds* “made up” and modern to me, which isn’t really my style in naming at all.

I really like the sound of Cataleya, and having come across Cata as a nn recently, I like the idea of both Cata and Leya (perhaps Cat/Kitty too). I can imagine it becoming popular, although I don’t know about top 100. I’m not as big a fan of Cattleya, since it looks like cattle, Catleya maybe.

I don’t know that it would work quite as well in predominantly English-speaking countries with cattle=cows and “cow” being one of the bigger and more common insults that can be directed at a woman. It’s hard to say, though.

I noticed the 'cattle' part but I guess it didn't bother me because the orchid is named after someone named Cattley so I suppose the pronunciation is CAT-lee-uh. Cataleya is kah-tah-LAY-ah, as far as I know.
