Clara - I love how timeless it is as well as sounding good on a young or older girl.

In that case, neither. Where I live, they are Cah-ruh and Clah-ruh.Out of those two, I'd always choose classic Clara over flimsy, dated Cara. Except that I would be much more likely to choose Clare.

I’ll go with Cara, although I prefer it spelled Kara. Not sure why but I just don’t care for the name Clara. It’s a perfectly fine name, nothing wrong with it, it’s just not my style.

ClaraIt just has more substance. I'm the same way with Clarissa vs. Carissa.

Clara, because Cara reminds me too much of "carrot".

Neither really thrills me. I don't like the "care" in Cara prn CARE-uh - I wouldn't want the name myself, because of that. So I'll give this fight to Clara, even though Clara seems prissy and leaves me cold.
I prefer Cara pronounced CAR-uh, and the name Claire. If it were between those two, I'd have an even harder decision... probably would go with Claire, for a daughter, because it's more current, and take Cara "CAR-uh" for myself.

Clara. Cara is nice enough, but I like Clara more.

Cara, hands-down. Actually I prefer Kara but same difference. Clara is frumpy and dowdy.

They're pronounced car-uh and khlar-uh where I live. I find Clara quite harsh sounding and hard to say, but I don't like Cara either.

Clara. There’s something really lacking about Cara that I can’t quite put my finger on.

I'd never pronounce Clara Claire-uh. I might pronounce Cara Care-uh, I go back and forth on that one.I'd have to go with Clara, even though it's a little bovine to me, because I find Cara way too recently-trendy and insubstantial.

I prefer Kara pronounced as car-rub

Clara. Love it (and it was the first name of my maternal great-grandmother's).I also like Cara but spelled more like Kara instead.:)

Not how I say or like either, but Claire-uh at least doesn’t sound like ‘carer’ when I say it.

Clara.Cara is a bit too rough sounding for me.

I never thought I'd say this, but I prefer Cara. I don't love it, but Clara feels so unwieldy to me. If it were between Claire and Cara, I'd choose Claire without a second thought. Do you like Calla? Seems like you might if you like these two.

I think Clara is much nicer.

Clara. I knew several Caras growing up so it feels dated to me.

I could never get either by of those pronounciations to work where I live (UK).Of the two sounds (pronounced how you like) I prefer Cara, but both are pretty.
