Declan
What do you think of the name Declan? I really like the sound of it but I’m not sure what vibe people get from it. How popular do you think it will get?http://www.behindthename.com/pnl/87410

It's alright, kind of a sturdy Irish name. I grew up near a large family of Irish heritage, the father of which was named Declan. So maybe that's why it doesn't seem trendy to me. Sure it's fashionable - like Aidan and Dylan. If I think about it too hard, it starts to sound like Brooklyn and Dexter ... but that's not my primary impression.
I find it sort of rough to say out loud, but not in an irritating way - just rough enough that I don't really like it very much.

I love Declan. It has a real sexy vibe to me. I always imagine a Declan sexy. That makes me wonder if I would want to give my newborn son a name that I think is sexy, though. Ew.

Ugh I can't stand it and it annoys me that it's getting more popular. The dec- sound is awful and it sounds like another one of those trendy -n names.

Declan, Deacon, and Duncan all kind of fall into this same group of "meh" boys names. They're ok, they'll suit someone fine throughout their life, and they do nothing for me.I think 2016 was it's peak. I have seen it spelled as Deklan which I think is really bad (even Deklyn is better). Every time I see it spelled that way I say "He's in de Klan."

It's a decent enough name but not something I'd use. I think I would like it more if it wasn't the name of a lazy-äss landlord I use to know. Just allowed the place to fall more and more apart. The association I have to the guy is too strong. I can't really picture the name on a child or younger individual unless he is from Ireland or other places. Declan seems more dated in the states.
