It's dated, however, I'm all ready for this spelling to make a comeback. I'm so tired of Renae, Renay, Rena, etc. My middle dd had a good friend growing up whose name was Renassa (reh-NAY-suh). She was named after her mother's mn (Rena -- pronounced the same as Renée). It never occurred to me that that was the pronunciation. I had thought it was pronounced REE-nuh at first.

So yeah, Renée is nice. I've only known one person with this as a fn (several with this as a mn).

I love it; I never knew it to be dated, as I've only known a few Renée(s) throughout my life--at most, and since I rarely meet children, I am unaware that less people have this name nowadays. On a rare circumstance that I meet a child - it is not as though I state "oh, another person who is not named Renée or any other "dated name"; if you're not part of the solution, your part of the problem (smile).

Where I live, at present it's mostly used as a hyphenated name, Chantal-Renee, Renee-Claude, Renee-France. (I know people by these names. )

I think it's a little dated, but at the same time ready for a comeback if that makes sense? I've always liked it despite its 50s/60s vibe. I was glad to see it come back to the charts last year so here's hoping it'll make a little comeback!

I think it's interesting how it does not feel dated, even though it should.
I guess it's helped by the more steady use of Rene as a male name.
I never liked it very much, but I think it's a good name, and is even better now that it isn't in fashion.
For me it has two characters - one similar to Jasmine, one similar to Lauren.

Infact that year were born only 8 Renata but also 29 Renée. This name is growing since 2000 here.

I find them boring and dated rated 4/10.
I have a spot for René instead but only because of a book character because I dislike the sound.

i don't find it dated at all. however, i first heard of it in thd Twilight books, and while i'm not silly enough to say that an association with a minor character in a fad series should be a hindrance to anyone else...that's what first comes to mind, personally.

regardless, it's a beautiful name. i'm more attached to the form Renata with Renee/Reni as a nn, but it's great in all forms. Renata feels way more likely to jump in popularity soon (it went up 100 spots from laat year and the year before that), so Renee is a better option if you worry about that sort of thing.

I love Renée. It's slightly dated but I think it's pretty enough. Also Wren seems pretty trendy right now, but I think Renée has a nicer sound.

I can't hear this name without thinking of Bella Swan's mother in the Twilight saga.

I’ve only known one other Renée, and I typically see it used as a middle name. I would love to see it make a comeback in the first name world!

I liked it for a few months last year, but then I worked for a Renee (about 60?) in early 2018, and that's not a positive association.

I think it has a retro feel and could make a small comeback but won't be super popular anytime soon.

I like it. It's kind of dated but kind of not, since it's still pretty popular as a middle name. I think I've known way more people with it as their middle name than I have people with it for a first name. (I did know a Katherine Renee who always went by Renee.)
