Lenore
You know what, this is a really nice name. I think it's going on my list. It's really pretty, dark, and interesting. It's also simple and recognizable.
My older sister named her kid Annabelle because her favorite poem is Annabel Lee. I could have a Lenore and we could be goths together.
I've also decided I'm going to fudge some etymology about it - and not only for Lenore but for the entire Eleanor family.
The real etymology: from the name "Aenor" of unknown origin. The first bearer was Eleanor of Aquitaine, whose name began as "alia Aenor" - the other Aenor (her mother was Aenor).
My fake etymology:
LENORE MEANS "THE DARK"
Le Noir
Nevermore!
Throw your opinions and combos at me please. I'm not interested in it as a middle name; as an iamb (ba-DUMB, le-NORE) it follows a rhythmic cliche I'm not interested in participating in.

I wish I could love it the way you do. It's the number one brand of fabric softener here in the UK. It's so darkly pretty though.

I think Lenore is lovely and entirely usable. I don’t necessarily view it as “dark” but it can easily lend itself to that vibe, I think. Feel the same way about Laure. Hmm...

I want to like it, but Lenor is the name of a fabric softener in the U.K.
I love Lenore. It's simultaneously beautiful and dark and gothy. It has more of a Poe feeling to me than Annabelle (maybe because Annabelle became more popular).

It doesn't seem goth or dark to me, just ascetic somehow.
Annabelle and Lenore together as a Poe theme would be fun.
Thinking of names I'd compare it to or associate it with...
Noor (means "light", haha). Eleanor. Leonard (Cohen). Lenny.
Carol, Doris, Denise, Annette, Yvonne, Louise, Mildred, Minerve, Hazel.
Lenin and Melor.
Lemore from A Song of Ice and Fire.

I have liked Lenore for a long time; I get the same goth vibes from it as you.
I think I did once see it spelled Lenoir. On A Baby Story or something.
Lenore Evanthia is the combo I've been using in my combo challenges recently. Lenore Evanthia Néphélie or Lenore Evanthia Noemi.
