Mahogany
Met someone named this recently. What do you think of it?

I like it but mostly for pets. I met a cat named Mahogany "Moggy" so that's what I picture.
Doesn’t pass the test.

It's too big and clunky for my taste. Also, it contains the word HOG.
Er ... rigid? Unbending? Firm? Ah, I know: wooden!
Also, presumably, with darkish skin tone. A blonde Mahogany would be exceptionally silly.

'That's MAHOGANY!'
Sorry, all I can think about is furniture.
Not the worst name I've encountered.

I really like it, but then I’m a huge fan of nature names. Mahogany is complex but simple at the same time, and the namesake tree/wood is stately and striking. I think it could work for someone of any gender.
The downside: it’s four syllables long and there are no obvious nicknames. Hog really doesn’t work, lol.

i'm a sucker for tree names, i even like Oak as a name, but Mahogany makes me think first of the wood, not the tree. so all i think of is flooring.
It seems to be from about the same time period as Ebony, but it's nowhere near as pretty as Ebony. It has that hog sound in it is probably the main problem.
"Do you knooooow where you're going toooooooo
Do you like the things that life is showing youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
Where are you going toooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo"
All I can think of is that annoying song.
Also it would be unusual on a white girl.

I can't get past the "hog" bit of the name. The tree association is pleasant though.
It’s certainly interesting but I don’t like it mugh. The “hog” sound is incredibly ugly and it makes me think of furniture rather than trees.
