I like Oliver very much, but I'd only ever use it as a mn because I view Ollie with shudders of dread. So, just about any name that doesn't end in -er would do nicely as a fn: not Alastair, Peter, Trevor etc.
Of the similar names, I far prefer Oliver (which to me is Cromwellian rather than food item), then Olivia which is a bit too frilly for me but is a family name, and I don't enjoy Olive at all, although my distant relative who was named Olivia chose to be known as Olive, silly lady.
