I've only seen it used once in South Africa, but that was on a truly great long-distance runner, born in 1964: Frith van der Merwe. She set a women's record for the Comrades Marathon which, I think, still stands, and as a person she was a wonderful role model.
Then there's a little girl in a Paul Gallico book called The Snow Goose who is also a Frith. Trying for a traditional British vibe, perhaps?
