Elva or Alva (m)?
If you had to choose, Elva or Alva? Why?

Elva. It's the Swedish word for "eleven" but that doesn't bug me. It has a very different feeling than Alva for me, and I do like Elva which I guess is weird since I really dislike Alva.

ElvaSurprisingly :D As I said, Alva reminds me of the male historical figure. Also, Elva has a bit more personality to it, a bit more spunky, while Alva feels a little more bland to me and a little less assertive.

Elva, cause it makes me think of elves of the apritely little Santa's helper sort, while Alva reminds me of Thomas Edison and Hawkeye from MASH (I know Hawkeye was Alan Alda but the similarity is plenty for me). I usually prefer Al* to El*, just because everyone is an Ellie these days, but I think Elva is just a touch more lovely.

AlvaElva's cool colors (remote), sleek, more mischievous.
Alva's earth tones (familiar), hardy, more wholesome.
Elva reminds me more strongly of elves. I associate elves with: winter, trickery, magic, whimsicality. It also reminds me vaguely of Elvira, which makes it campy/vampy to me.Alva reminds me of Alvin, which sounds nerdy, and a guy I know called Al, who is 6'4", burly, and affable. It also sounds Hebrew/biblical to me, which fits in with my style more.
I like both of them, though.

Alva.Alva makes me think of Alba which makes me think "white". Elva makes me think of Elves which... makes me think of elves.
Weirdly, you can connect Elva to a "white" meaning but not Alva. Both can be connected to the elf meaning.

Alva because it doesn't make me think of Elvis Presley and elves.
