Something about the first syllable is off putting but I like the second syllable as nn fodder. Nessa, Ness, Nessie are mucy better. This especially works if you like those nns but don't care for the traditional Vanessa.

I guess someone could go Wicked (as in the musical) and just name their child Nessarose in that case.
