Re: Janice

Oh yes, I have, because telemarketers have sometimes pronounced my name that way. Usually, the ones who have done so have had foreign accents, so being foreigners, they may not be familiar with the name. In their case, it would be understandable, but there have also been a few who sounded liked native born Americans asking for "Jan-EES".When I took French in middle school and high school, we were called the French equivalents of our names. I was told mine would be Janice but pronounced Jan-EES.Actually, I think that pronunciation would be a big headache. Other than foreign, foreign born, and a few maybe American born telemarketers, nobody has thought that my name is pronounced Jan-EES. And it's enough of a pain to correct the people who think it's Janet. I already have to say, "No, it's Jan-ISSS" to them. I'd hate to be saying, "No, it's Jan-EEES" to everyone else.I've never known another Janice who pronounces it Jan-EES.
