I would definantly use it! I really like it aswell. As for the story in the bible, I have to agree with Soul, Bear and Maria, for me, she is actually a role model. So yeah, I think it would be a very good name. And also what Bear said, most people would think it's a form of Lilian anyway.

I've used it as the name of the villainess in every story I wrote as a child lol. It just sounds evil, because of a vampire movie I saw as a little girl with an evil vampiress named Lilith who scared the living daylights out of me.

From the description it sounds kind of cool--a woman who refused to submit to a man even though she had to face the consequences of doing so. Hell yeah; good for her. I think it'd be fine for people to use, though I do have a different issue with it: I don't particularly like it. :-/ But other than its aesthetics, I wouldn't mind.

I see her more as a positive role model, the devilish or evil connotations arising from years of female suppression and bigotry (just my opinion). Many people still use the name Delilah even though the Biblical account doesn't reflect too kindly on the character.

I think Lilith is beyond beautiful. To me, any name ending with a -th like Lilith or Gwyneth is gorgeous. I would certainly consider the name.

I doubt anyone knows the story. If anything, most people would probably think of the character from Cheers, Dr. Lilith Sternan (sp?). Others might think of the feminist image of the name; she didn't "obey" Adam.

It has a positive connotation in my mind. I'm aware that others interpret her Biblical story in a negative way, that she was a devilish, destructive character. But to me it depends on your point of view. I choose to see her as a positive roll model.

I'm not sure if that many people know the myth of Lilith in the first place. Most people probably think it's some form if Lily and Lillian. So, I don't think a girl called Lilith would be teased at school or anything.

I find that Lilith, the mythological character, is actually considered somewhat cool in modern days. At least I know more people who associate it to a strong, independent woman instead of something negative, controversial as she is.

I would not name my daughter Lilith, because I personally don't like the name. I think it would be fine to name your daughter Lilith if you like the name. I am not sure people would even know the bad story that goes with Lilith, I didn't until you said it.
