Re: British Royal Baby 2018 (Update)

I think they will be allowed to be a bit more creative with their third child. It is very unlikely that this child will inherit the throne. I don't think they will be allowed to use a trendy name but they do have more choices now.
I hope for:
Richard - I think this is handsome as long as it is used in its full form.
Arthur - I really like this too, handsome.
I really don't think they will use:
Henry - it's Prince Harry's full name and I don't think they will use it again.
Michael - Prince Michael? I really don't see this happening at all.
James - weren't there bad associations with ancestors of the royal family by this name? It is possible that I am getting it confused with John.
Alfred - this is kind of goofy.
Stephen - super dated.
Not sure about:
Frederick - I like it but would they use the same name as a prominent member of another royal family?
Edmund - not bad but I would prefer Edward. Is Edward out of the question?
Albert - Prince Albert of Monaco is just too strong of an association.
Philip - there is a Prince Philip, isn't there?
Robert - feels a bit dated, less timeless than Richard.
I hope for:
Eleanor - I think it's really nice. But I doubt they will use it for some reason. Also I think it's feeling a bit tired in the UK, it was very common a few years back.
Matilda - I love it but not sure if this isn't too edgy for them.
Alice - I go back and forth on this but I like it at the moment. Fits with Charlotte in terms of style and popularity (very common in the UK).
Mary - I actually really like this but there are too many associations and some are pretty bad.
Jane - I am starting to like this, it has a lot of charm. But I don't see them using this.
Philippa - it is cute but there is no way they will use this, hardly anyone names a child after their sister, at least not as their first name, it would be annoying/confusing.
I really don't think they will use:
Alexandra - dated/80s
Sophia - crazy common and doesn't feel very royal anymore
Caroline - there is a Princess Caroline of Monaco. Okay, there is a Charlotte too :P But still, don't find this fitting for some reason.
Not sure about:
Margaret - kind of nice
Frances - I hope not, I dislike it
Victoria - I think this is really 80s in the UK so probably not
I would like to see Cecily. It has been used by the royal family before but it seems like everyone has forgotten about it. I would also like to see Rose (Princess Margaret's middle name). Not sure how likely these are, I guess not very likely.
I don't want Matilda to become crazy common so I hope they choose something else. Mary would be nice, it could use a bit of a comeback. Or Alice, it's already common. I think Alice might be the most likely.

I agree with that; that's why I went looking for all those names back when I did the previous polls.
Richard is still my pick for a boy. I am going to guess Michael will enter as one of the middle names. James has already been used (the only "bad" association I can think of would have to be the fact Princess Diana had a lover named James). Stephen hasn't been used in ages, so it could be a bit of fresh air for the royal family. Edward is out due to the current Prince Edward (Will's uncle).
Matilda was my former pick, as mentioned; I'm still hoping it'll be used. Philippa could be a middle name, should they consider it. I have no idea why Alexandra and Victoria would be "dated", especially seeing how Victoria is ranked in the 90s in the U.K. I feel like Victoria would've been better off being used on a first-born daughter. I had Cecilia on the previous polls (Queen Elizabeth II's maternal grandmother was named Cecilia).
If Will and Kate managed to honor Will's mother with their daughter's name, then I'm sure there'll be a chance that a name on Kate's side of the family will be used, regardless of sex.
