Sightings & Seraphina
I recently saw two babies, unrelated, named Ibis and another named Thisbe. What do you think?
Also, do you think Seraph/Seraf can work as a diminutive of Seraphina/Serafina?

I don’t really like Ibis because it’s a bird. Thisbe is not really my style.
I like Seraph as a nickname, but I like Phina better. I love Seraphina.

I started liking Ibis as a name after reading "The Scarlet Ibis" circa 2003; coincidentally, Thisbe was one of my favorite names around that time. I still like them and am happy that someone used them.
I think Seraf could work, as in: it's not hard to see how you got it from Serafina, and people would use it if you asked. But considering that it mostly reminds me of words ("sheriff" "tariff" "giraffe" "carafe" "staph"), I don't like it.
I think Sera would be the most natural or obvious NN for most people. I'd be more likely to go with Phina / Fina, which I think is cute.
Maybe even Rafi / Raphi could work (I'd prefer that to Seraf / Seraph).

Don't care for Ibis - it's a chain of hotels here and the birds look a bit scary. I've met a little Thisbe before. I like it though I bet it's a tricky one for a small child to pronounce
Yes I think Seraph works...though it might sound a little bit contrived

I like Ibis and Thisbe. Seraphina, however, seems a bit “trying too hard” for me.
