Re: Few Italian names
in reply to a message by Felie
Hello :)I like or love:Stella - I wouldn't use it but I love the meaning. I find the sound a bit too harsh to use it but in general I tend to go more towards names that start with the letters L or E, I like soft letters and the St-beginning is a bit rough to me. I like it anyway, it's just something I personally wouldn't use.
Melina - I think it's really sweet and soft and I love the meaning of 'honey' as I love honey and honey bees. I wouldn't use it for a few reasons. First of all it's kind of common here and second of all the very similar Milena is also common and so are Lena and Lina. So the sound is just too common for me.
Veronica - it's a strong classic. I also wouldn't use it but I like it. It's very mature and dignified.
Vittoria - this is softer than Victoria which I like about it and it has a great meaning as well.
Gioia - I like the meaning and sound but here it would be too complicated to use.
Luna - I like it. I love Harry Potter and this name makes me think of the character which is nice. I wouldn't use it because it's not on my list anymore but I like it. Luna Aurelia used to be my favorite combo (moon + golden).
Carlo - I really like this it seems really friendly and charming. These are okay:Claudia - I like the sound, but only when it's pronounced in English. I dislike the meaning and it seems very dated to me.
Cristina - Christina or Kristina look nicer to me. It's very 80s dated and I much prefer Christiana or Cristiana.
Alessandra - I actually love the sound of the full name. But I met way too many girls named this and most went by Ale which I really dislike.
Roberta - this is kind of unattractive but kind of cool at the same time.
Giorgia - it sounds a bit harsh. I used to love it but I think I prefer Georgina or Giorgina now.
Giorgio - it's not bad but it seems to be like every other older Italian guy is named this and it seems kind of boring.
Emiliano - not a favorite but it has a nice sound.
Davide - I prefer David.
Achille - just a bit much, in my opinion.
Aniello - it's okay but I don't really care for it.I dislike:Chiara - I know this is probably a classic in Italy but here it's not a classic and seen as a very trendy/modern name that often gets spelled Kiara as well. I much prefer Clara.
Paolo - I don't care for this or for Paul but I often like the feminine versions such as Pauline.
Daniele - this is a girls name in France pronounced the same as Danielle.
Mauro - in German a 'Mauer' is a 'wall' and this make me think of the word too much.
Luca - this is crazy overused here and I just met way too many.
Renato - Renate was super common here for women many years ago and I never heard the masculine version so it seems kind of feminine and funny to me, sorry :( Kind of like sticking an O to a feminine name like Anno or Isabello or something simply because I am not used to this form it feels forced to me.
Alberto - I dislike Albert and this isn't better.
Bartolomeo - it's kind of cool but I think this would be better for a pet or a character.
Giuliano - I love Giuliana for a girl but don't really care for this one.
