Re: Veronica

Veronica is lovely. I like the nn Nicki which isn't really much of a stretch when you see that Veronica is related to Nike. Still, if you'd prefer to avoid all nns, that doesn't mean she'd be saddled with one.
For example, my middle child is named Victoria Brooke. The family always called her Brooke (and still do). When she went off to college, there were professors and her advisor who would always call her Victoria no matter how many times she reminded them that she goes by her mn. When she graduated and took her first job, they all called her Victoria and still do since she never corrected them. I figure she must like it. Even her bf calls her Victoria which I'll admit, feels a bit strange when we hear him refer to her that way. Anyway, I asked her once if the people at work or the bf ever give her a nn since Victoria has four syllables. She told me nope, they've never done it even once. I don't know if this is due to being in an atmosphere with all adults or if people are more prone not to use nns these days. At any rate, I don't think your Veronica would necessarily have a nn. OTOH, you can't predict whether she'd want to use one.
