I actually like it too, I thought I was the only one! I wouldn't personally use it for my own kid, but I definitely think it's usable for a kid today- there are lots of Biblical names in the top 1000 that I honestly think seem much less usable... I pronounce it HIE-ram; the other pronunciation (which I never thought of) sounds like "hear 'em"... For some reason I group Hiram and Harlan together, I guess they do sound similar.

well that's because a Hiram is someone you should listen to! you gotta hear em!and Harlan does go well with it. i would like Harlan a lot actually if it had more substance to me (though "hare land" is such a cute meaning). maybe it'll grow on me.
