I love both of these but could obviously just use one of them. I love the meaning of Thaïs (bandage) because it makes me think of it as a healing name in some ways but I love the meaning of Anaïs as well. Which one do you like best and why? Any images that come up? How would you imagine a girl with these names?

They are pronounced with three syllables (Anaïs) and two syllables and the emphasis is on the last syllable. tah-EES and ahn-na-EES (not good at explaining pronunciations, sorry) ;)

Living in the US, I wouldn't use Anais because it's too close to anus for someone who won't take the time to pronounce it correctly - which is most people.

I had an aunt named Thais. She pronounced it ty-EES. She is from Mexico.

Neither of them are pleasing to my ear, but I'd choose Anaïs over Thaïs, because I like Anaïs Nin and tend to prefer 3 syllable names.

...also, I think Thaïs (which isn't used often, if at all, where I live) would get confused with Therese.

Neither are even remotely used where I am, but I prefer Anaïs. It just has a better ring to it, and the pronunciation just rolls of the tongue. Thaïs seems a bit incomplete and short to me for some reason.

I have a little niece-in-law named Anais(sorry, can't do the little dots). she lives in France. Her sister is Lucie.
So, when I hear this name, I think of her.
Thais is used occasionally where I live, but I don't know any personally.
Both are useable names, I think.

I like Thaïs more. Anaïs is kind of just a fancy Anna, and it's harder for me to say.

I like them both a lot, but I prefer Thaïs because I love to play "Meditation from Thaïs" on the violin!
