Evangeline
Evangeline is a name that I've liked for a couple of years, but it has never been a favorite unlike Emmeline. Until now, when I wrote it together with one of my surnames and fell in love with how it sounds, feels and looks.
So, what's your opinion on Evangeline? I'm not sure if I would use a nickname or not, and in that case which one. Eve/Evie doesn't really comes naturally to me as a Swede, and Eva feels too middle-aged.
And do you prefer Emmeline or Evangeline?
We’ve all got both light and dark inside us. What matters is the part we choose to act on. That’s who we really are.

I love Evangeline and much prefer it to Emmeline. I would personally use Eva as a nickname, but you could also use Lena.
I remember seeing it in posts a lot when I joined this site (about 10-12 years ago), which stuck out to me because I'd never seen it used and the only one I'd heard of was Evangeline Lilly. Probably because of that, and the fact that it's gone way up in the (US) charts since then, even though it's still not that common, it strikes me as a bit trendy. Other than that, I really like it...it's got a V, an *ine ending, and a positive meaning, and I tend to like names with those.
I tried to think of how to describe the vibe I get from it...and all that's coming to mind is being outside during a sunshower...in comparison, Emmeline would be more like sitting in a musty library listening to rain on the roof.

I don't much enjoy either one, but at gunpoint I'd use Emmeline without hesitation. Naming a child in a family of atheists Evangeline seems highly inappropriate. Also, when my mother was a schoolgirl she had a friend named Evangeline who was always known as Vangie, which she found unfortunate!
It makes me think of fundamentalist evangelicals, which I don't really consider a good association. I'd assume an Evangeline's parents were very conservative Christians and very vocal about it.
I don't really like Emmeline either, but it doesn't have negative associations for me.

I like Emmeline more.
The emphasized "vange" sound in Evangeline disagrees with me. And also it reminds me of evangelism, enough that I'd be idly wondering whether religion had influenced someone who named a daughter Evangeline.
I like nickname Angie. Vanna (or Vana depending on how you say Evangeline) would work also. Or Evanna - I like that a lot.

I love both Emmeline and Evangeline. I started to love Emmeline after seeing it in a manga. Evangeline is a favorite because of a song by Scottish musician Karen Matheson, which goes: "Evangeline, Evangeline, the angel of the morning is here..."
I think Emmeline works here. I'm not sure about Evangeline, it may make people think you're über-religious...

I like it. Evangelija / Evangelia is my favorite though.
