Melisandre?
Thoughts on Melisandre? Is it too associated with GoT? Any nickname ideas? Middle name ideas? What names like it would work better as a replacement for it in real life?"Your goal in life should be to make your past self envious of your current self""Be kind, please rewind" - an ancient proverb

I don't know GoT, but I have always loved Melisande and this is sooo close. The problem is that when people say Melisande or Melisandre, they tend to butcher the pronunciation and it's sad.
I love them much more than Millicent, but tbh I would be more likely to use Millicent just to ensure pronunciation.
EDIT: I always thought Melisande Anais would be darling. I also offer Melisandre Ismene.

Too associated with GoT, and I think Melisande is nicer and more usable.Mel, Mellie, Andie, Lissy.

Can't deny it sounds really beautiful, but Melisandre isn't exactly a sympathetic character. I wuld go for Melisande instead, it's very beautiful.

As a replacement, Melisande must be first choice! After all, it has had objective existence in the real world for centuries.I didn't know it was a GoT name, so I assumed it was a merger between Melisande and Alexandra. Here in South Africa, though, quite a few people have merged Jean and Andre to get Jeandre; Jean has the French pronunciation and Andre sounds French as well. Unfortunately most Saffers are rather bad at French (I do include myself!) so it's been used for males and females, with the same spelling.Since Sandra is still mercifully unfashionable, I suppose it'd attract Mel as a nn, as does Melanie.

Yeah, it's entirely associated with GOT. Wtf is it anyway? Melissa X Alexander? What's with the -dre ending that fails in English? Ugh.Melisande is the replacement IMO, but that's kind of difficult in English too. This is why I like Melisant (a different spelling of Melicent / Millicent).

I'm not a fan of Melisandre but I love Mélisande / Melisande. There's also Melisende. I just think Melisandre is too associated with GoT.

Melisande is an actual name so that could work. Melisandre would probably make most people think of GoT. Melisande Guinevere
Melisande Jane
Melisande Victoria
Melisande Rowenna
Melisande Vespera
Melisande Ophelia
Melisande Juliet
Melisande Petronella
Melisande Drusilla For some reason, I really like pairing it with another long, rather flowery name.

I love Melisande Vespera and Melisande Juliet. So elegant and beautiful!

I think it’s nice, but a bit over the top. Really gives me a “trying too hard” vibe. Melissa is a similar name that seems much more practical to me.

I really like it! I don’t know why I didn’t think of Melisande before Melissa.
