Did she speak French? That word has a not-so-positive meaning in French.

In French, "chamaillerie" is basically synonymous with "contretemps," so I'm guessing the bearer's parents were not French speakers, but simply found a word they thought was pretty.Prior to looking it up, I would've thought the name was either Cajun or Acadian / Québécois.

When I put it in translator, it detected it was French and translated it to Sqaubble. Not a fan.

translate it."squabble" or "bickering" in French!sha MIE(L) ree, sha MIE(Y) ree - garbled machine pronunciation from GoogleIt's pretty! And funny. Maybe a sort of playful Cajun names like Caillou?Maybe invented for the online chat!Reminds me I had a dream about someone named Michellaine.

Quite pretty, but I can only imagine the lifelong spelling headache.Did you contact by phone? If so, I'm wondering how you know the spelling.

No, online chat. I copied and pasted the name - no idea on how it's even pronounced.

I'm imagining it pronounced like Mallory with a "Sha" in front of it.

Me too. It reminded me of Chantal and Mallory.
