I heavily associate the name with the Little Mermaid, but from personal experience, I don't mind that :P. I like it but consider it a GP.

I think I just found a new favorite! I think it’s usable despite its odd meaning.

My gut instinct is to say yes and yes. The meaning—“ear of corn”—really kills it for me, though. Maybe the star association will outshine the literal meaning, but still I really think names with negative or “head scratcher” meanings are best avoided.
