I also kind of group Arlette with Arlene automatically but the more I say it, the more I like it. I don't like many -ette or -etta names, although I don't mind Etta as a nickname. I like Scarlet and Charlotte that have that some kind of sound to them and they may have been the predecessors to these other -ette names coming up. The only one I truly love is Annette and that's my Nana's name (I just realized I didn't right "was my Nana's name"...it's times like writing something so unthinkingly that I can't believe she's been gone for 4 months). I would use Annette for a daughter if I had an agreeable husband. I can almost guarantee that if isn't my daughter's fn, it will be one of her mns. I'd likely call her Etta whereas my Nana went by Anne.
