I like it. It’s a classic, which is always good (meaning it isn’t, and never will be, dated). Carolyn, to me, seems dated, while Caroline doesn’t. I pronounce them the same (as CARE-o-lyn).

I've always loved it. It is my younger sister's name and has perpetually been quite popular in the area I'm from. The popularity doesn't bother me. It is timeless, elegant, and beautiful. I definitely pronounce Caroline (with a long i) and Carolyn (with a short i) different. It drives me nuts when people pronounce Caroline as Carolyn. It drives my sister even more nuts (since she gets called Carolyn somewhat regularly).

I named my first daughter Caroline, having hunted through a name book for a name she looked like - she didn't look a bit suited to my first choice. And it worked well.Caroline ends in -line with a long i, Carolyn ends in -lyn with a short -i.

I really like Caroline. When I was younger I used to think it was quite dated, my mum knew a lot of people her age called Caroline. But the character in the Vampire Diaries changed my mum on it, she's young and peppy and although really annoying in the first few series, really grows into a strong, independent character that does the name a lot of favours.I pronounce Caroline as CAH-roe-lIEn (long "I" sound) and Carolyn as CAH-roe-lIn (short "I" sound). And I like "Callie" as a nickname but not "Carrie".

I love Caroline, but worry about it’s popularity. I like the nn Cara as well.Caroline I pronounce Care-uh-line. Carolyn is Care-uh-lynn.

I really like it. I think it's beautiful. Unfortunately, every Caroline I've ever met has been very rude, so I doubt I could ever use it. I pronounce it the same way I say Carolyn.

I think Caroline is a beautiful name; elegant and feminine without being frilly and completely timeless.I pronounce them differently - as they're written

I love Caroline. It's my youngest dd's mn. I love both the way it looks and sounds. It has been pretty uncommon in my world to date. I pronounce it differently from Carolyn (line vs. lyn).

I love Caroline.I pronounce Caroline and Carolyn differently. The last syllable of Caroline has a long I sound and rhymes with "wine", and the last syllable of Carolyn has a....not sure what you'd call it, but the last syllable rhymes with "win".Now that you mention it, it occurs to me that in the TV show "Little House on the Prairie", the name Caroline, which was Mrs. Ingalls/Ma's name, was always pronounced like I pronounce Carolyn. At least, Michael Landon as Mr. Ingalls/Pa pronounced it that way. And it always bugged me. I'd always want to say, "It's CaroLIIIIINE, you idiot!"So I love Caroline and I've always disliked Carolyn. I think the only reason for my dislike of Carolyn is that it was popular when I was born, and had been for several decades previous to that, while Caroline was not, so I just got sick of Carolyn.
