Claire?

Boring and dated to the 80s here.
I feel the same way you do, but right now I'm leaning towards boring. It reminds me of Claire from Project Runway.
“SHAW-neeee!” “Yes babe?” “I love you babe!” “I love you toooooo, will you sew this seeeeeam for me?” “Of course babe!” *loudly knocks over manequin*
“We don’t understand why nobody wants to bond with us!”

I love it. I have only known a couple in my life and so it doesn't seem overused or boring to me.
It's my big cousin's name and she's one of my favorite humans in the whole world and I will almost definitely use it as a middle name for a future daughter, although I do love it as a first name. It's solid, not all light and airy, and it's elegant.

I like all Claire variants. I think Claire itself looks solid, yet light and classy.
My daughter (Clarisse) prefers to go by Clare than Clarisse, and I only spell it Clare for continuity to the spelling of her actual name. Had I named her Clare... I would have spelled it Claire.
While I don't find Claire boring, I will say that I prefer Clarisse or Clarice myself. Clarion I prefer over all.

My niece's middle name. I think it's nice as a middle, kind of blah as a first. I like it, though.
I vote for "plain boring." It's not bad, but I don't see anything special about it. Plus it makes me think of eclairs, and I don't particularly like when a name makes me think of food.
My sister had a really weird friend in high school named Claire, so there's also that association, but that's just me.

I love Claire. It's elegant and simple. :)
Claire is pretty and sparkly. I like it a lot. She packs a punch without being too glitzy and in your face. (If you're a fantasy fan, watch Outlander and you'll never find Claire boring again)

It's better than Clara for sure. But I think it's kind of a weak, watery name, also downbeat. And the way it's put together, it just doesn't slip off the tongue smoothly. It looks and sounds like it ought to, one syllable with soft sounds after one crisp sound, but it just doesn't quite work.
I have to say I agree with RoxStar. It needs something more, like Claira?
