Thoughts on Mira?
As a given name instead of a nickname.
Do you think it could be a problem in a Spanish-speaking area since it means "look"? If so, would you avoid the name for that reason?

I think it’s pretty and simple; I like it. I’ve seen Meera too.
Thank you! I really like the simplicity of it.
I'm glad I looked back! Thank you for responding, it's good to know that the look thing is a positive to her.
It is very pretty and unique. The middle name is lovely. It is just that some people may not say it correctly . I much prefer the names Mia and Myla which are easier to say
I think it definitely would be a problem, but I do think it’s sweet.
Thanks for responding! I definitely don't like the idea of it being a huge hassle, so it's something to think about.
It's nice enough.
We have a kid at school named Mira. It's a nice name.

Thanks! I'm glad to hear that it works well out and about.
its lovely!!
and i don't think it's a big deal so long as it's not a vulgar word, honestly. that gives it a kind of cool double meaning, to be honest.

Thanks! I think the "look" meaning is even a little more special since one of the reasons I love it is that it's a star, something people do like to look at.
Thanks for responding. It's so hard knowing how popular Mia/Maya is since I'm not around children and the only Mias I knew were ones I met in college. I definitely wouldn't want a name for my (very hypothetical) child to be timestamped by sound.
I imagine a Spanish-speaking person would probably avoid giving Mira as a name without even really having to think about it. I don't know how they'd react to meeting a non-Hispanic Mira; probably they would think to themselves how silly Anglos can be.
It's all right but sounds so much like mirror as it's pronounced around here that I'd avoid it. Mira Mira on the wall ...
But I do think it's better as a full name than a nickname.

Thanks for responding! The similarity to mirror is another issue I was considering, so I'm glad you brought it up.
