Re: Moses

So I personally know a giant 100 + pound golden retriever named Moses - and apparently his breeders who named him were VERY religious. Though his current owners (the ones who adopted him) aren't very religious, but they didn't wanna change his name (they said if they had, they would've changed his name to Kelso because he reminds them of the character from That 70s Show). Anyway, for me, I'd have a hard time using it for a child after being so close to this dog that I walk all the time. It does suit him in an ironic way - he does look very big and powerful, but once you get to know him, he's very goofy and not the most coordinated - along with being a golden retriever who WON'T retrieve. :-) But it is a nice name to say on walks and everyone I meet loves the name on him when I say it.
But, aside from the dog thing, I think it's a nice, strong name with a good ring to it. I work in education and have seen a few more Abrahams and Isaacs lately, so why not a Moses? The Tz- sound in Tzopporah seems a little confusing - especially for a little girl learning to spell her name, though I do like Zahara, which is a similar sound - though totally different meaning I know.
