I think it's really dated too. I don't like Alexis on either sex, but I especially dislike it on a girl. It sounds like it belongs to one of those snobby popular girls from Mean Girls.

The only Alexis I've ever met was male and Greek. It was nice enough on him. As a female name it seems empty and too trendy, like most boy's names on girls. I'm also reminded of cars: 'a Lexus'
Alexandra is a decent name, don't care for the others.

To me, it's always not only male but Russian. And I would assume, if I met a newborn Alexis, that he was indeed a he and that his parents had some Russian connection.

My choice for a girl would be Alexa; Alexandra is inconveniently long and might well shorten to Sandra.

On a girl is has the same vobe that Sasha has: glamour, trendy and cutesy all negative things imo (infact I prefer Sacha on a boy).

In my mind Alexia is perfect on a rock/punk girl. So it is strong, spunky and energic.

The highest it's ever ranked here is #101. I've never met an Alexis. I definitely prefer it on a boy.

It wouldn't be odd on a baby born today, but it would be late to the party - like naming a girl Tiffany in 2002.
Not really like naming a girl Jennifer in 2002, because Jennifer was so much more popular for so much longer. There are lots more Jennifers than Tiffanys out there.

I'd pick Alexandra.
Second, Alexandria. I don't like it, but it still sounds pretty cool when an Alexandria introduces herself.
Third, Alexis. Not because I like it more than Alexa. I like Alexa more. But if the voice assistant name catches on, Alexa is going to drop off the chart like a lump of lead. Or it should.

I think it's ex-trendy and has the tough but not tacky, gender-neutral-ish vibe of names like Brooke and Ashley and Sydney - they have (had) a "professional" sheen, like the parent was picturing the daughter growing up to be a conventional success. Yuppie. Now that they've seen some popularity on real girls, their image is more just regular name - maybe not mediocre, but not as shiny as they were when they were trendy. Harper & Piper will go the same way IMO. It doesn't ruin the names - Alexis is still as usable as Brooke and Ashley, and I think it will be for a bit longer. But eventually it will become, I think, more like Megan than like Tiffany.

I love Alexis on a boy - I dislike it on a girl. It doesn't exactly give me the classiest vibe on a girl, probably due to personal associations.

I wouldn't think it's odd - I've met young girls with my own name (Andrea) but I wouldn't be excited about it. I would just think they aren't into the current naming trends heard it somewhere, liked it, & used it. Or it's been their favorite for years & don't care about if it's in style or not.

I would probably choose Alexandra, I find that pretty classic. My favorites are the Italian forms Alessia & Alessandra, however.

I really don't care for Alexis, never have and I really can't picture the name on a boy at all. I just think of one of those fake\plastic, mean girl stereotypes. Into every SUPER girly activity, popular, think their own *purposely clears throat* don't stink.

I can't recall what possessed my imagery of the name but its safe to say, it's now stuck. I'm really glad the name isn't within the top 100 anymore. Never cared for the sound of it anyway.

Alexa: Always preferred it over 'Alexis' classic, simple, sounds nice and doesn't give me any bad vibes or leave me with any negative images. I like Alexandria as well which is my second pick.

Alexis is not a favorite because I consider it an unnecessary shortening of Alexandra. And it makes me think of someone trying but failing to be classy. I think because of how close it sounds to Lexus, as in the car. Something about it sounds a little cheap to me. Yes, it would be odd to name a baby born today Alexis. It's dusty and past its prime.

Another reason I don't really like Alexis is because it does sound somewhat masculine to me. I always think of Tsarevich Alexis. However, I certainly wouldn't endorse its use on a boy in modern America. It's been too popular for girls.

If I had to choose, I'd choose Alexandra, no contest. Now that is a beautiful, refined, elegant name. I'd just have to try hard to call her Zan rather than Alex, which I don't like on a girl. Alexandria would be a close second. I don't mind the extra I all that much, but it's not necessary. I dislike Alexa as much as I do Alexis.

I really like Alexis, but prefer it on a boy. My thesis advisor has this name (he’s a man), and I think it fit him well. It’s fine on a girl, though, and I don’t think it’s dated at all (Alexis and other Alex names are classics).

Alexis is still in style. I like it on both f and m Alexis is my fave Alex name. I think of a ditzy popular woman/girl or a popular Hispanic or Eastern European boy.

I’m not a fan of it on either gender, tbh. I get a bit of a stripper vibe from it for some reason.

Alexis is still very much in style and it would not be unusual at all to see a baby Alexis. It's not all that uncommon on boys either, but mostly on Hispanic boys here in the US.

I like Alexis for a girl. It's stylish and glamorous without being frilly, and strong without feeling boyish. I'd definitely pick it over the other Alex names.
