Maureen
I've been thinking about this name lately. I just think it sounds so warm, and lovely, like coming home after a while of being out in the cold and getting to cuddle under a blanket by the fire.
I know it's dated, and a lot of people's responses will be about how dated it is. But it was never mega popular, and I kind of like that it's out of style. A Maureen born to day would stand out, but not in a show-off-y I'd picture her being strong-willed, creative, not caring much what people think with her.
I guess I just really love Maureen right now! What do you think of it?

I don't find it as awful or dated as most of the -lene or -reen names. It's still not my style, but I wouldn't think it was bad if I heard it on a kid.
It's a lovely name, I just love its sound and how it looks. I think it's ready for a come back.
Love, love, love.
It's a lovely name, with a 1930s vibe to it. Very noir.

i love the sound, and i agree with the imagery you describe!
it also reminds me of something small and soft, like a bunny or chinchilla. so i guess unlike many people, i can very easily imagine it on a little kid.

I think of someone in her 60s but would love to hear it on a child.
I don’t really like it, I can’t picture a young Maureen as most I’ve met have been over 60. Plus I don’t like the way it’s pronounced here (MAUR-een rather than maur-EEN).
It was my older sister's favorite name when she was aged about 12 - 15. She planned then to name a daughter Maureen. Later, she laughed at herself, and I can still hear how she'd pronounce Maureen when she did. I can't do it justice in print, but the second syllable was very elongated.
So I think it's dumb-sounding.

Hi Olwen !!!
Your description is so beautiful!!
The autumn, warm and the fire...
You are right!
That name is discreet and comfortable.
I can imagine a cheer housewife in her 50s who loves cooking for all her children and grandchildren that she invites to her house nearly every day.
A positive, sweet association...
