For a girl. No nicknames. LET THE BATTLE TO THE DEATH BEGIN!!! ;) Hmm. Your ideas are intriguing to me and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter.

Fable. It's a GP of mine.

Story, I guess, as it's my mother's maiden name. But I wouldn't use either as a first name.

I really love both of these! I have to say Fable because it’s a less common word and because it sounds more name-like.

FableThe "fay" sound at the beginning lends itself to easily imagine Fable as a name. Story is much more of a word than a name to me. It reminds me of books and levels in a building, nothing connected to a possible name at all.

StoryI would choose Fable if I could use Fae as a nickname, but I don't like it enough to use Fable all the time. It also feels more contrived. Story feels kind of nicknamey on its own.

Fable has always been a guilty pleasure name for me. I love it. I think Story is cute but I don't think it would age well.

FableIt's cute!

FableStory is just too regularly used in everyday life. I don't mind it as a middle though.

StoryJust sounds more namelike

FableBecause...1. I prefer the sound of Fable (one of my favorites names right now is Phaedra).
2. My nickname is Tory, so me personally using Story for a girl would be extra weird/flaky.
3. I like fable more as a word. Story is generic. Fable is a specific type of story which usually includes animals or naturey stuff.

Can't say I would use any, actually, but I'd choose Story.

Fable. I know you said No Nicks, but I can't help noticing that Fable shortens to Fay, but Story just shortens to Store.

Fable because it sounds more like a name. Both are GPs of mine =)

Fable because it sounds more like a name and not just a word, like Story.
Plus, I could nickname her Fae!

Fable!

StoryStory because at least it sounds like a name. Sounds like it could be a nickname for something, though who knows what.Fable just sounds flaky. Fable and her sisters Faery and Dream. Or sister Allegory and brother Parable.

It also rhymes with Mabel.

Story. I think it sounds cute. It's only one small sound away from what my daughter is called, Torrie. I don't care much for Fable. Even though it is only one small sound different from a name I like, Mabel. Sometimes a sound makes a difference, sometimes it doesn't.

FableMight be my second favorite girls name right now tbh.

FableIt’s slightly less wordish in that “story” is more common vernacular. Plus, Fae

Oh man. I think they both have nice sounds, first off. Story feels like such a commonplace word to use for a name, though. I tend to be hyper-alert to mentions of my name so I don't know how I'd feel about having a name that was used in every day conversation like that. I always wonder how people named things like Ann or Ben (an or been) survive. Maybe they're better at filtering it out? But it still sounds stressful to me. Fable, on the other hand, is pretty and not said nearly as often, but while the vibe is fantastical and magical, due to the nature of fables, it's also rather childish. And it can be used derisively too, it'd be sort of like being named "Myth."In the end I think I'd go with Story.

Definitely Fable. Story doesn't feel like a name in my opinion plus I only like a few names ending in the -ee sound. Fable reminds me of Mabel which I like, also Fae and Belle are both cute nn's.
