Gary
Do you know anyone names Gary?Yesterday I heard a baby(!!) being called that and (surprise!) I liked it! What do you think? When do you think the name will be popular again?

It makes me think of either Gary the snail from SpongeBob or Gary Oak (Ash's obnoxious rival) from Pokemon.

My former brother-in-law is named Gary. I also had a friend about 25 years ago named Gary. My former brother-in-law is now 65 and my friend is 60. It's not a bad name at all, just dated. I can see the appeal. I'd like to meet a baby named Gary, too.

I don't know any Garys. Interesting to see it on a baby! I'd expect a Gary to be late fifties, like Gary Oldman & Gary Lineker, or older. So I guess it might have a re-run in around 30 years' time?

Probably not in my lifetime. Except as a retro name. Like naming a kid Howard today. Howard and Harold are more likely to come back sooner IMO.Gary was the name of my geometry teacher in high school, and of one of my father's best friends. I went to school with a couple of Garys, they'd be mid-40s now. I don't know any younger ones.

I think of Gary the snail from Spongebob Squarepants when I hear the name Gary. The sound of it is not particularly appealing to me and it's a bit, I don't know, forgetable? Though the name might work with a less English pronounciation, like Gah-rhy or something like that. I am not a native English speaker, so the name obviously sounds different to my ears. I personally don't think this name will be popular again anytime soon.

I've only met two people named Gary -- my eighth-grade social studies teacher and the night supervisor for my apartment -- and they're both old enough to be my grandpa. That being said, I consider Gary dated to at least the forties. I much prefer Garrett!

The only Gary in my life is a man of 50. He was apparently named after the golfer, Gary Player.I don't like it much. It seriously lacks sparkle. I far prefer Gareth, which I suppose could have Gary as a nn, but I wouldn't go there.

I know a few people named Gary. Indeed, I have a cousin Gary.

I don't see why it couldn't come back, but probably not for a few decades. 2040s, 2050s? It's a family name for me; it was the name of a deceased uncle and it's my brother's middle name (after the uncle).

In middle school I met a man in his early seventies named Gary. He was a beautiful, gentle soul. He'd be in his mid-80s now. He gave me very warm feelins toward the name, as did some very likeable TV and Book characters.I dont think it will ever really be big again. It's not ugly chic or super classic, if it were going to come back, now would be the moment and it isn't happening to my knowledge.

Don't care much for it. It's very dated, was dated even when I was a kid; there was one Gary my age, and he was a Junior.

My best friends DH is named Gary. He is in his 30's. I don't see the name becoming popular anytime soon though.

I like it too, although I can't see it coming back for a while as it's very dated. I know a few, the youngest one is in his late 20s and the oldest is probably in his 50s.
